Why Emergency Plumbers are needed on the First Sight of a Toilet Leak

If you are seeing a pool of water at the bottom of your toilet, then it would be best if you call on your emergency plumbers so they can get down to the bottom of the problem. The water may be caused by a sweating toilet or by a more serious issue occurring underneath the fixture’s base bolts which requires the advanced tools possessed by your hired professionals.

Now, while you are waiting for your emergency plumbers to fix your toilet, you can start determining if there is really a leak in the fixture or not by putting a few drops of food coloring in it. Allow a few minutes to pass and then press the flush button of the toilet. If the fixture indeed has a hole, then the food coloring that you have placed would surely make its way on the floor.

When that happens, the first thing that you need to do is to empty the tank of your toilet. This would prevent more water from totally occupying the floor in your bathroom. You would also need to look for a thick cloth that you can place on top of the leak. Position your hand on top of the cloth until your emergency plumbers finally arrive inside your home.

Once your plumbers get inside your bathroom, you can expect them to remove the bolts that are holding your toilet in place. If your bathroom fixture is one of those older models, then your hired professionals might need to eliminate the portion of the floor surrounding your toilet as well so don’t be surprised about that.

If the situation demands that you get a new wax ring too, then simply make an effort to look for one together with your pipe contractors.

Now, if the leak is in the tank of your toilet, then apply the same method that involves the use of food coloring. However, you may need to wait for hours instead of a few minutes since the product may not be able to make its way to your main fixtures instantly because of all the auxiliary parts found in the tank.
